February Book Haul

This past month I got quite a few really cheap reads. I've not read them all and some I've written reviews for and haven't posted them yet. They are coming soon, I swear. So did you sunflowers get anything last month? Let me know below if you have read any of these books and what you thought of them.

Oblivion (Lux Series 1.5) - Mini Review

Experience the epic love story of OBSIDIAN as told by its hero, Daemon Black…

I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.

And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.

But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.

Falling for Katy—a human—won't just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen...

Discussion Challenge 2016 #1 - Female/Male POV

In case you don't know what this is all about. It's a way to get bloggers talking more, to discuss books or blogging. It's actually really a cool idea. I don't do enough discuss posts, so this is an awesome way to start into that. This is my first post and it's also serving as my post to let everyone know I'm joining this as per the rules found here.

My goal is: 13-24 – Creative Conversationalist

So what I wanted to discuss is something that my partner, little sister, and I have talked about countless times. Well, it's actually them ganging up on me and saying I'm narrowed minded and should branch out more.

The 100 - Series Review (TV Talk)

No one has set foot on Earth in centuries -- until now.

Ever since a devastating nuclear war, humanity has lived on spaceships far above Earth's radioactive surface. Now, one hundred juvenile delinquents -- considered expendable by society -- are being sent on a dangerous mission: to recolonize the planet. It could be their second chance at life...or it could be a suicide mission.

CLARKE was arrested for treason, though she's haunted by the memory of what she really did. WELLS, the chancellor's son, came to Earth for the girl he loves -- but will she ever forgive him? Reckless BELLAMY fought his way onto the transport pod to protect his sister, the other half of the only pair of siblings in the universe. And GLASS managed to escape back onto the ship, only to find that life there is just as dangerous as she feared it would be on Earth.

Confronted with a savage land and haunted by secrets from their pasts, the hundred must fight to survive. They were never meant to be heroes, but they may be mankind's last hope.

2 Mini Poetry Book Reviews

Life is random and so is this book.
It is a collection of poems arranged in no particular order. There are happy poems, sad poems, serious poems, poems about real life and poems that are total fiction. There are poems about love, poems about cats, poems for children, and there is even one about a...
From one page to the next you don't know what you are going to find.

Feature & Follow Friday #14

This Week's Prompt:
What are some of your biggest pet peeves with books? i.e. love triangles etc.

  • Insta-Love! I HATE it so much. It just makes no sense and it doesn't give the characters a chance to really fall in love. I've said this many many times, love is something that takes time to build. There is no love at first sight. There is lust at first sight and even that can eventually lead to love. But you can't just look a person and fall in love. You know nothing about them.
  • Next I generally hate what I believe is called the 'Alpha Male' where the guy won't even let the girl breathe on her own. Like Twilight sometimes, and an even better point, Fifty Shades of Grey. Not that I've ever read the whole series or even the first whole book - could not make it though that rubbish. Though if you like it, go for it. Just not my thing at all - I remember the contract he gave her, what she could eat, when she slept, what she had to wear, how she had to keep her body hair... Those kind of guys piss me off and just rub me the wrong way. Men should not be like that and I find it very sad that some women or even men, want that kind of partner. No one should be controlled that way.
  • Weak female main characters especially in YA. So many younger girls read these books and I just want them to have a strong female to look too, to aspire too. We live in a time when we as females can do pretty much anything we want (though don't get me started on unfair wages), so I love seeing strong female characters. Now, this doesn't mean that I hate weak female characters, because I happen to connect more with them. I'm not a very strong kickass girl. I'm pretty weak physically after the tumor and such so yeah, I get it. I just personally don't like reading about them.

So what about you Sunflowers? Now that I went on a long rant it's your turn to let me know! Either leave your link to your FF or simply tell me below in the comments. I can't wait to see what you guys think! I know a lot of you will probably say love triangles but I actually like them... not to toot my own horn or anything but in every love triangle I've read, my choice of guy always wins. Okay that was totally tooting my own horn. #sorrynotsorry

Feel free to follow me anyway is easiest for you. I have pretty much everything but intsagram because my tablet doesn't have that yet. Damn you Amazon!!! Just let me know how you followed and I will be sure to follow back.

February Wrap Up!

I didn't get to read too much this month, a lot of stuff kept me from reading. I've also taken up tutoring a high school student. So add that to my already full plate makes for a sad reading month. Though I'm actually proud I read this many books, granted they're all short but still. So let me know below what you read last month and if you've read any of the books I did.

Falling Kingdoms: 4 Stars

Rainbows and Roses: 5 Stars

Encounter: 5 Stars

The 100: Homecoming: 3 Stars
